Pakistan’s tallest woman passes away in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD – Pakistan’s tallest woman, Zainab Bibi has passed away after the prolonged illness.

Zainab, 46, was admitted to Allied Hospital in Punjab’s city Faisalabad. She was suffering from diabetes and osteoporosis.

She was 7 feet 2 inches and in 2003 was declared the world’s tallest woman, earning her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Bibi, in an interview to leading daily last year, had said she was striving to make ends meet owing to her illness and lack of financial cooperation from the government.

On this, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif approved a cheque worth Rs2 million to ease her plight.

The deceased hailed from Rajana area of Toba Tek Singh and her funeral prayers will be offered in her ancestral village.
