ANKARA – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has demanded a United Nations fact-finding mission’s visit to the Occupied Kashmir to probe human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces in the territory.
The OIC Executive Committee of Parliamentary Union meeting issued a declaration in Ankara strongly reaffirmed the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
The Declaration also called for the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions that call for a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the auspices of the UN.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq while addressing the OIC meeting said that the Indian forces were attacking unarmed Kashmiris with pellet guns.
Meanwhile, normal life remained crippled due to heavy deployment of Indian forces on the 103rd consecutive day, today, to prevent anti-India marches across the occupied Valley.
Dozens of people were injured when Indian forces resorted to brute force on thousands of protesters who defying restrictions took out rallies in Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Budgam, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Islamabad districts.
The protestors raised high pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Indian police during crackdown operations arrested over 120 youth from different parts of the Valley.
On the other hand, senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, called on Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, in New Delhi and apprised him of the prevailing situation in the occupied territory.
