DUBAI – An Emirates Airline steward who has been accused of stealing 18,550 Dirhams from three business class passengers aboard a Dubai-bound flight is standing trial in the United Arab Emirates.
The Emirati trio in June was flying from Thailand to Dubai and left their belongings unattended to attend to their ill father, reported Khaleej Times
Upon their return, they found missing currency from wallets. The brothers then alerted the cabin supervisor and police.
After realising that the theft had been confirmed, the Egyptian flight steward, 37, allegedly flushed the stolen cash down the plane’s toilet.
Police arrested the flight attendant after his fingerprints matched with those left behind.
The accused appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance which charged the man with theft at the workplace on June 21. The trial was adjourned till November 11.
