NAB to launch inquiry against PPP s Agha Siraj Durrani over multiple allegations

KARACHI – The National Accountability Bureau has decided to launch an inquiry against the speaker of Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani over illegal appointments and assets beyond known sources of income.

According to a press release issued by the bureau, the decision to verify complaints against the PPP leader was made in a meeting presided over by Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, who also ordered to make Durrani’s secretary Ghulam Muhammad a part of the inquiry.

The Bureau will also probe the complaints received against another secretary in the provincial assembly, Umar Farooq.

Moreover, the accountability watchdog also decided to contact Interpol for bringing back former secretary of Sindh Land Utilisation Department, Shahzar Shamoon, and Sindh Building Control Authority’s former Director General, Manzoor Qadir.

The NAB has already filed a reference against Manzoor Qadir and it has also sought details of the case against Shahzar Shamoon.

It is worth mentioning that NAB is tightening its noose around the corrupt politicians and individuals involved in malpractices in government departments; chairman NAB has asserted that no one could pull the Bureau’s strings.
