Rangers get special powers for another 60 days in Karachi

KARACHI (Staff Report) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Sunday morning approved an extension in special powers granted to Sindh Rangers for another sixty days.

Under the new order Rangers would be able to take action against matters related to terrorism, sectarian killing, target killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. However the paramilitary force will require a permission from SIndh Chief Secretary before raiding any public office or arresting any government official.

The summary also included several clauses related to special powers of Rangers as given in a resolution approved by Sindh Assembly.

The extension in special powers has been granted with effect from December 6, 2015.

The copy of the order has also been sent to Sindh Ranger and Federal Interior Ministry.
