Christmas event marked at AIOU

ISLAMABAD – A magnificent event was arranged on Thursday at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to show solidarity with the university’s Christian employees.

The event was largely attended by the employees and their family members. Congratulating them on their happy Christmas, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Zia-Ul-Qayyum eulogized the role of the minorities in the socio-economic development of the country.

The Muslims, he said, fully share the happiness and progress of the Christian community. “It is a matter of great pleasure that they are enjoying equal rights and privileges in the society,” he added.

The event was marked with the cutting of a Christmas cake and distribution of sweets. The ceremony was arranged by the Employees Welfare Association in collaboration with the Project Directorate.

On the occasion, a Christmas tree was also decorated in the premises of the University as a symbol of Christ. It was also reflective of the dignified and dedicated role of the Christians community in the national development.

Christian leaders and pastors also addressed the ceremony and highlighted the religious teaching and the message of Yusuf Masihi for humanity.
