LAHORE – The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) on Wednesday announced province-wide Matriculation results and revealed that most of the top positions had been secured by underprivileged children, including the children of daily-wage laborers.
According to the results, Rana Umar Farman secured first position, Muhammad Shayyan earned second, while Syed Momin Ali and Hasnain Mushtaq were awarded with third position in the Lahore board.
Uzma Waris, the daughter of a laborer, scored 1045 marks and grabbed third position in the Arts group.
About 2,14,711 students appeared in matriculation exams held under BISE Lahore, out of which at least 1,53,478 passed.
In Multan, about 100162 students took the examinations, out of which 73,350 candidates (73%) passed the assessment.
In the City of Saints, Saif-ur-Rehman came in first with 1085 marks, Mohammad Huzaifah earned 1084 marks to secure second position while Maryam stood in third position with 1083 marks.
The daughter of a tailor, Sammiya, claimed third position in Arts group.
Saqib Javed from Cadet College Chakwal secured first position in BISE Rawalpindi exams with 1070 marks, Samawia Saher Fauji Foundation Girls School Attock and Muhammad Sameed Aalam from Cadet College Hassan Abdal both came in second with 1069 marks.
Zaid Ali of Cadet College Hassan Abdal and M Abu Bakar, Siddique Public School Rawalpindi captured third position with 1068 marks.
During a ceremony, provincial minister for education distributed prizes among the position holders. The educational board has also announced prize money for the brilliant students.
