Multiple fatalities after two Pakistani trains collide near Hyderabad

KARACHI – At least three passengers were killed when a freight train collided with a passenger train near Hyderabad on Thursday.

The Lahore bound Jinnah Express collided with a stationary freight train near Hyderabad, Station Superintendent Railways Muhammad Ramzan confirmed to the local media.

Visuals from the scene showed the passenger train’s engine and at least one bogey severely damaged from the accident.

“All passengers are safe,”  said Federal Railways Minister Shiekh Rashid Ahmed.  However, a driver, an assistant driver, and a guard lost their lives,” he said.

Meanwhile, a team of Pakitan Rangers (Sindh) reached at the site of the incident to assist the rescue operations.

The reason behind the accident is being investigated and will be shared with the public within an hour.
