LAHORE – Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has come down heavily on “baseless” rumours of him claiming to be in love with former Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre.
Releasing a lengthy video on YouTube, the ace cricketer had slammed reports that claimed he was obsessed with Bendre in the past and carried around her photo in his wallet. He also crushed reports that stated that he wanted to kidnap and marry the star.
In the video, Akhtar had also claimed that he never was a fan of Sonali Bendre, he put an end to all rumours and said that he only saw a few of her films and admired her courage during her battle with cancer. He even went on to praise her and state that he considered her as a role model for many others in the world.
He also mentioned another Bollywood diva Dia Mirza in his video, saying that he didn’t have any affiliation with Mirza and said that he has never met her.
Shoaib Akhtar aka ‘Rawalpindi Express’ had also slammed the social media users who have been personally attacking Sania Mirza, an international star cum the wife of Shoaib Malik and censured them for putting the blame of Pakistan’s poor showing on her.

In the video, Akhtar had also expressed his sympathy for the ordeal that Sania had to go through. “Poor lady, she gets criticized in India for marrying a Pakistani and when Pakistan loses the match, then again she gets blamed. How can you talk about somebody’s family in this way? I cannot understand how can you point a finger at somebody’s family just because you have the right to have a Twitter or any other social media handle.”
