PPP Senator attacks policeman outside NAB Office in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar thrashed policeman after situation turned violent during as PPP leadership appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad on Wednesday.

PPP’s leader Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar resorted to violence against a police constable, during the gathering raised slogans in favour of their party leadership and removed the blockades in a bid to enter in NAB office.

The angry senator, having a crowd of PPP workers beside him, thrashed the police constable against a vehicle twice and moved forward.

Strict security measures were taken outside the NAB headquarters while a large number of PPP leaders and workers had also gathered on the occasion to express solidarity with their top leadership.

The PPP workers and police exchanged harsh words and police baton-charged the workers after they stoned the policemen deployed around the NAB building. According to media reports, one policeman got injured during the manhandling, who was shifted to a nearby hospital.

The police made several arrests after the scuffle and shifted them to various police stations. A woman trying to stop a police mobile was also arrested.

The PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and the Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari had been summoned today by the NAB as part of an inquiry into an alleged loan obtained by the Park Lane Estate Company.
