KARACHI – In a tragic turn of events, three people were killed when their boat capsized near Manora beach here on Saturday.
According to reports, a total of 12 fishermen were on board a boat that overturned. The rescue officials recovered three dead bodies and saved five others while a search for missing fishermen was underway.
The incident happened days after four people lost life while coping up with heat at Karachi’s Hawkes Bay.
Regrettably, Pakistan’s metropolis witnesses incidents of drowning in the summer season, when picnickers swarm the beaches to beat the soaring temperatures in the city. Many of the Karachiites ignore warnings from the civil administration to stay away from deep waters.
In 2015, three people were swept away by a strong tide in the Gadani beach while in 2014, 23 people drowned in Clifton beach despite a ban on swimming in the sea. Both incidents took place on one of the Eid days.
