KARACHI – The US has refused to purchase prawns from Pakistan owing to negligence of Marine Fisheries Department (MFD).
US team visits Pakistan every year and reviews minutely all the hygienic aspects of food.
Sources said that this year MFD couldn’t satisfy US team due to which they are no longer eligible for DS certificate.
DS Certificate is issued on determination of standard and US does not import prawns from any country without this certificate.
Exporters said Pakistan will have to bear loss of millions of rupees due to minor negligence of Marine Fisheries department.-Online
