KHAIRPUR – As many as 20 people were killed while two others were left injured when a coal-laden truck rammed into a passenger van near Shah Hussain village in Khairpur District 0n Monday.
The passenger van was en route to Sukkur from Khairpur when it met the deadly accident.
The rescue teams and Rangers reached the accident site and started rescue operations. The deceased and injured were shifted to nearby hospitals.
The identities of dead and injured could not be ascertained immediately.
Police and rescue officials said the death toll could rise as the some injured were in precarious condition.
Road mishaps are common in Pakistan and according to the statistics revealed by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, around 4500 people die every year due to poor enforcement of safety laws by traffic police.
