Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad appointed VC University of Sargodha

ISLAMABAD – Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad, a prominent Pakistan social scientist, has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor (VC), University of Sargodha.

Dr Ishtiaq headed the Pakistan Chair at Oxford University from 2010 to 2015 and has been serving as Director of the School of Politics and International Relations at Quaid-i-Azam University since January 2016.

He has a long list of academic accomplishments, including his positions abroad as Fulbright Scholar at University of California, Santa Barbara, USA and Vice Chair of International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University, northern Cyprus.

He has several major publications to his credit, including the recently released edited volume with Routledge titled ‘Pakistan’s Democratic Transition: Change and Persistence.’

The newly appointed VC has represented Pakistan at various global forums, including UN Human Rights Council and spoken at major international conferences in several countries of Asia and Europe as well as in the United States.

Dr Ishtiaq has also been a leading commentator on national and international news TV channels. As a former journalist, he reported for ‘The Nation’ and edited ‘The Muslim.’

With wide scholarly experience at home and abroad, he is expected to make a significant contribution to the University of Sargodha in developing its teaching, research, knowledge transfer capacities as well as international collaborations.-Online
