LAHORE – Murtaza, an employee at a restaurant in Lahore, suffered brain hemorrhage after some egoistic customers hurled insulted at him for nothing.
Sadly, the victim died yesterday (Tuesday) leaving behind three little children – a daughter and two sons. The incident has been reported by a social media user, Umar Khan Dawar, on Facebook.
Dawar said, he went to the restaurant last Sunday when a group of people also reached the place and greeted by Murtaza, worked as an order taker, and gave them the menu book.
The social media user added, “They ordered a starter and right away after going through the menu started complaining about the prices. Then they called the same order taker (Murtaza retired from army on health basis) and got harsh with him”.
Excusing over what was not in his domain, the order taker tried to calm the customers down but got louder and started hurling insults at him and threatened him that he would be beaten up.
After the arrogant customers left the place, Murtaza was heartbroken over his insult just for nothing and sat down in a corner.
Dawar explained, “Shortly he [order taker] got a seizure. His whole body started shaking. He started vomiting. And then his condition worsened and was unconscious”.
When he was taken to Services Hospital after calling Rescue 1122, he started bleeding from his mouth. Later, a CT scan suggested that Murtaza suffered the brain hemorrhage.
Dawar, who was among the people making effort to save Murtaza, said: “We were advised to take him to General Hospital after consulting the relevant people I decided to rush him to General hospital. The staff at General hospital was courteous. After doing few tests and another CT scan he was taken to operation theatre”.
After 7-hour long surgery, Murtaza, also a retired army person, shifted to ICU but he remained in a state of coma for a week and finally died.
The social media user expressing grief over the incident also criticized the behavior of people with poor segment of the society. He said, “Not to say that customers should stop criticising products or Restaurants. But insulting poor Staff? There is always a decent way to register a complaint”.
