RAWALPINDI – A local court on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for renowned model Ayyan Ali in the murder case of Custom Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz.
According to media reports, the court ordered the police to arrest the model and produce her in court within 10 days. The investigation officer should also interrogate Ayyan Ali in the murder case, the court ruled.
Arrest warrants were also issued for two other accused in the case, including customs superintendent Zargham and Dr Haroon.
Slain Custom Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz was one of the key witnesses in the currency smuggling case against Ayyan Ali. He was shot dead in June 2015 in Rawalpindi while investigating the case, in which the model is currently on bail.
Initially, the murder case of Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz was registered against unidentified assailants on the complaint of his widow Saima Ijaz and his brother.
However, later the filed a separate petition accusing model Ayyan Ali of her husband’s murder, a plea which was accepted by Rawalpindi’s District and Sessions Judge Khalid Naveed Dar.
In her statement in court, Mrs Ijaz said that her deceased husband was under severe mental pressure and that he had told her that he was being threatened of dire consequences for not cooperating in the investigation case of super model Ayyan Ali.
“I have strong doubt that Ayyan Ali is involved in the murder of my husband,” she said.
