Rangers arrest MQM s Shahid Pasha in early morning raid

KARACHI (Staff Report) – Sindh Rangers on Monday morning arrested Rabita Committee Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Shahid Pasha in a raid.

Although the paramilitary force has not formally confirmed the arrest of senior MQM leader, MQM spokesperson Wasay Jalil has confirmed that Pasha was taken into custody by Rangers personnel. Rangers had raided his apartment in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar area of Karachi at 3:00am.

The development was followed by several statements of MQM’s leadership in which they condemned the action of Sindh Rangers. MQM supporters on social media also demanded immediate release of their leader using hashtag #ReleaseShahidPasha.

Shahid Pasha was appointed as deputy convener of the party’s Rabita Committee -which is considered as central organisational body of MQM, last year after Sindh Rangers raided MQM headquarters, the Nine-Zero, in March.
