SIALKOT – Former federal minister Firdous Ashiq Awan has dismissed the rumours of joining the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), terming it propaganda by the ruling party against her political campaign.
Earlier on Sunday, a private TV channel claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader was going to ditch Imran Khan “as the party remained unable to fulfill the promises made to her at the time of joining and to address her reservations”.
However, Firdous told the media that she was not quitting PTI. “I was laughing when I heard about myself joining the PML-N. Even if they (the PML-N) had spread rumours that I was about to join the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) again, a small number of people might have believed. But all such claims are untrue,” she added.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, who joined PTI last year in May, is one of few women to sit in the assembly with an impressive educational and professional record. She is also among a handful of women whose work shows more than her words
The Sialkot-based politician has contested elections from constituency NA-111, which is next to the constituency of incumbent Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.
