Will turn Karachi into New York, vows Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday vowed to transform Karachi into New York if Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is elected to power in Sindh.

“I have not come here for political point scoring. Trust me, if PML-N is elected to power in Sindh, we will turn Karachi into New York,” CM Punjab said while speaking during meetings with political leaders from Sindh.

Shehbaz, who is on a two-day visit to Karachi, visited Awami National Party (ANP)’s Mardan house and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Bahadurabad leaders.

While speaking to the media along with ANP leader Shahi Syed at Mardan house, Shehbaz said that Karachi is the face of Pakistan and that “we will restore its reputation.”

In response to a question regarding Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq’s comments regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Shehbaz said that “you would be better served if your ask this question to CM Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.”

President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Shehbaz Sharif reached Karachi on two days tour, where he will meet leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh chapter.

According to PML-N leader Khialdas Kohistani, Shehbaz’s tour to the port city would be of political importance. The party leader intends to start a public contact campaign during his visits ahead of the general elections.

During his two days stay, Punjab chief minister is expected to discuss the political situation of the country and possibilities of alliances for the upcoming general elections with the leaders of ANP and both factions of MQM-P.

The PML-N president will address party gatherings during visits to Lyari, KMC Ground, and Baldia Town.

He will also visit the underway project of Green Bus service in Board Office area. The PML-N leader is also expected to attend a dinner at Governor House.

Earlier, Shehbaz visited Karachi on April 14 during which he discussed the country’s political situation and PML-N’s agenda with Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair.

During the meeting, 66-year-old PNL-N senior leader told the Sindh governor that his party has the agenda for development and welfare of people and would change the situation of all the cities if it comes to power.
