LAHORE- Three weeks after the teaser release of upcoming local film Chhalawa, the official trailer has been revealed.
From the looks of the trailer, like any other light-hearted romantic comedy, the film is expected to take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride.
Helmed by Wajahat Rauf (Karachi Se Lahore, Lahore Se Aage), Chhalawa stars Mehwish Hayat as a young woman being forced to marry against her will. Her real love interest Azfar Rehman arrives in her Punjabi hometown to win over her father. The movie’s location and sets give major vibes of Punjab Nahi Jaungi with a common plot where there is trouble at the wedding.
Speaking at the trailer launch yesterday, Rehman called the film a family entertainer, promising loads of romance, comedy and great music.
Although the first half is all rainbows and butterflies, the trailer gets darker towards the end. We see fights, tears and heartbreak bringing in a bit more depth to the film. It ends on a cliffhanger.
Filmmaker Wajahat Rauf’s Karachi Se Lahore and Lahore Se Aaagey hit the right notes with the audiences. We can only hope the same for Chhalawa.
The movie also features Zara Noor Abbas, Asad Siddiqui, Ashir Wajahat and Mehmood Aslam. It is expected to release on Eidul Fitr. It will be competing at the box office with The Legend Of Maula Jatt.
