NAYPYIDAW (Staff Report) – US Secretary of the State John Kerry has said that governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan were notified of drone attack on Afghan Taliban leader, Mullah Akhter Mansour.
Addressing a news conference in Myanmar, he said that he had spoken to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif before drone planes had targeted the Taliban chief. The attack on Akhter Mansour is a clear message to the world that US will continue its efforts for peace in the region, he added.
He went on to say that Mullah Akhter Mansour posed a ‘continuing imminent threat to US personnel’ and Afghans living in the war-torn country.
Kerry, however, declined to give details on the timing of attack that killed Mullah Akhter Mansour.
