LAHORE – A lawmaker of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) resigned on Tuesday, dealing another blow to the ruling party ahead of General Elections 2018.
Kanwal Nauman, 54, tendered her resignation to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif over lack of action on her ‘genuine issues’.
The resignation of Kanwal comes at a time when the party is already facing the crisis of weak political position; however, she has yet to decide her political future.
“My conscience is satisfied. I am disheartened now. You (Shehbaz) never had time for me, I joined the party because you are a kind-hearted man but Sir, you heard and resolved issues of entire Pakistan, but I wasn’t lucky enough to have that honour, ” she stated in his resignation.
Hailing from South Punjab’s district Multan, Kanwal Nauman is a well-known actress and was elected on reserved seats for women in Punjab Assembly in 2013 general election.

She was a member of Standing Committee on Special Education and Standing Committee on Home Affairs and also Chairman Board of Director of Punjab Arts Council.
in 2016, Kanwal Nauman was hospitalised after she was found in the coma following a brain hemorrhage.
