ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain has said the Pakistan Army, under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, has inflicted huge losses to terrorists.
“Under the leadership of General Sharif, the Pakistani Army has inflicted losses to the enemy at great sacrifice,” the US senator said in a statement about a meeting held earlier this week in Washington DC.
According to the statement received on Sunday here, McCain said: “I thanked General Sharif for his leadership and expressed my appreciation for the sacrifice of so many brave Pakistani soldiers in the fight against terrorism.”
The senator said the meeting was productive and informative to all members of the committee. “We value our relationship with Pakistan during these very challenging times.
“Our meeting focused on the situation in Afghanistan, the fight against ISIS, and ways to improve coordination and cooperation between our two countries against our enemies. I hope, we will continue working closely together in the interest of both our countries,” he added.
