KARACHI (News Desk) – In a statement with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) former military ruler General (retd.) Pervez Musharraf has for the first time termed former Chief of Army Staff General (retd.) Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani as a ‘principle offender’ in a high treason case against him.
According to the Dawn, Musharraf said that he imposed emergency on November 2, 2007 after consultation with Kiyani and on the advice of then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. However he added that the prime minister’s summary related to imposition of emergency situation country was misteriously removed from official records during the PPP government.
He went on to say that Kiyani assumed the office of Chief of Army Staff on November 27,2007 but he did not move for lifting emergency situation which makes him as well a principle offender in the case.
Making the high treason trial more complex, Pervez Mushrraf further declared then law minister Zahid Hamid, Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan Mr Abdul Hameed Dogar and all other judges who took oath under 2007’s PCO, senior officials of armed forces of Pakistan, chief ministers and governors of all provinces,members of all provincial and federal cabinets and legislation assemblies and senior civial servants as his abettors, facilitators and principle aiders in the case.
While responding questions related to dismissal of then Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Mushrraf said that he suspended him after forwarding a reference to Supreme Judicial Commission which was according to law. I met Justice Chaudhry on his insistence only as he frequently visited me in those days, he added.
He also alleged Mr Iftikhar Chaudhry for misusing his position as Chief Justice of Pakistan saying that the latter interfered in the matters related to legislation and executive which were not under authority.
