KABUL (Staff Report) – The fourth session of Quadrilateral Committee on Afghanistan peace dialogue will take place in Kabul on Tuesday (today).
In the meeting representatives of four participant countries; Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and United States; will decide the date of first session of direct talks between Afghan government and Taliban insurgents.
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry will be representing Pakistan at the meeting.
Earlier the third meeting of the Quadrilateral Committee was held in Islamabad where all members stressed on efforts for early direct dialogue process between Afghan Government and Taliban.
All four countries underscored the importance of bringing an end to the conflict in Afghanistan that continues to inflict senseless violence on the Afghan people and also breeds insecurity throughout the region.
The four countries after conclusion of meeting in Islamabad said that efforts will also be made to ensure conducive atmosphere for dialogue.
The declaration also stressed for elimination of extremism from Afghanistan.
