Dilip Kumar not guilty in 18 year old cheque bouncing case

MUMBAI (Web Desk) – Legendary actor Dilip Kumar has been acquitted from all charges in an 18-year old cheque bounce case by Girgaum Magistrate court in Mumbai.

The matter relates to a Kolkata-based company named Geekay Exim India Limited of which Dilip Kumar was the honorary chairman. The company had reportedly raised millions from different lenders and had issued cheques for repayment of the same almost 12 years back.

The cheques bounced and a case was registered against everyone involved in the company, NDTV reported.

The court in its wisdom ruled that Dilip Kumar was not directly involved in the day-to-day affairs of the company and hence he cannot be held guilty for the default of payments.

The court absolved Dilip Kumar and another accused of all charges and held two directors ‘guilty’, the Indian Express reported.

His wife Saira Banu has thanked all his fans for prayers and support .

Yesterday Saira issued a series of tweets, revealing that her husband was suffering from ‘neurological problems’ but had never asked for the case to be adjourned.

Dilip Kumar, 94, was granted exemption from personal appearance in the matter on Tuesday.

Dilip saab, star of films such as Naya Daur, Jugnu, Andaz and Devdas, was recently presented with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award.
