Couple killed for honour on jirga s orders in Karachi

KARACHI – A man and a woman were allegedly killed for honour on the orders of the Jirga (a local court) in city’s Surjani police jurisdiction some three days ago.

The police identified the victims as 23-year-old Naseeb Zar Khan, and 20-year-old Bibi Dakhtar, residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The bodies, which were found from Hub, bore marks of torture and their throats were slashed, police said on Saturday.

“The two were killed after proper planning,” officials said and added that the woman’s parents are missing,” said the officials.

A case, including clauses of murder and karo kari has been filed on the state’s complaint.

According to the FIR, the man was reported as missing in July while the woman was reported missing in August. “When they were reported missing, a jirga was called which ordered that the couple be killed,” police added.

Police have started further investigations into the incident.
