RAWALPINDI – A four-member medical team on Monday reached Adiala jail to conduct medical checkup of incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The board comprising four doctors of PIMS – cardiologist Dr Naeem Malik, Medical Specialist Dr. Shaji Siddiqui, neurologist Dr Sohail Tanvir and Dr Amir Maqbool – was made after the health of Nawaz Sharif deteriorated, local media reported.
The former premier has been shifted to a hospital inside the Adiala Jail for the checkup. A mobile laboratory also brought by the team of doctors.
Nawaz Sharif fell ill in the jail on Sunday due to kidney-related pain. He is also suffering from heart, glyceride, cholesterol and diabetes.

Later, Dr. Azhar Kyani and Dr. Hamid Ashraf visited Adiala Jail to examine his health and recommended to shift the former premier to hospital for better treatment.
Meanwhile, the caretaker government in Punjab has received an application to shift the former three-time premier to the hospital, while a decision in this regard will be taken by the Ministry of Interior today.
Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar are currently serving their terms in the jail following the conviction in the Avenfield case.
