Balochistan Sports festival starts to mark Pakistan Day

QUETTA (Web Desk) – Governor Balochistan Mohammad Khan Achakzai inaugurated the week-long Balochistan Sports Festival here at Ayub Stadium on Sunday night.

Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua, provincial ministers and people from all walks of life were also present on the occasion.

Local folk and cultural progrmmes including item of folk dance by the children clad in traditional dresses were presented during the inaugural ceremony. The spectators evinced their keen interest in programmes of the inaugural ceremony and enjoyed the gala.

The air show comprising F16s, helicopters and Mushaq jets and helicopters were highlights of the event.

Among other highlights of the event were a drill by military squad, cultural dances and local tunes, songs in Farsi, Pashto and Balochi and patriotic anthems depicted the land of multiple cultures.

The models of Quaid-e-Azam mausoleum, Quaid Residency, and Minar-e-Pakistan among others were also placed at the event.

The festival is being held in connection with celebrations of Pakistan Day during which competitions of various games will be held in which the renowned players from across the province will take part.

Strick security arrangements have been made and heavy contingents of Balochistan Frontier Corps, police and other law enforcement agencies are deployed in and around the venue of the festival.
