WASHINGTON (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has visited Pentagon at the invitation of US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter.
Matters relating to regional peace and security were discussed during the meeting.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the growing defence cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. He also appreciated US cooperation in capacity building of Pakistan in countering terrorism.
Ashton Carter commended Pakistan’s efforts in fight against terrorism. He said Pakistan is playing a leading role in the war on terror. He lauded Pakistan’s efforts in bringing consensus on fighting terrorism.
He acknowledged Pakistan’s role in peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
PM Nawaz Sharif also signed the guest book at the Pentagon.
