Pakistan s first motorcycle taxi service starts operation in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first ever motorcycle taxi service has been launched on Monday in Islamabad.

Cargar, a ride sharing motorcycle service, aims to provide an affordable solution to heavy traffic congestion. Initially launched in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Cargar aims to reduce carbon footprints by providing a motorbike-taxi service.“Cargar is an innovative start-up aiming to provide customers with smart solutions to over-charging, traffic congestion and intensifying of carbon footprints. With Cargar, you’ll experience secure, inexpensive and efficient transport which shall not only reinvigorate the road infrastructure of twin cities but also reduce civic issues,” a statement on their website said.

Just like Careem and Uber, Cargar aims to launch a similar app-based platform for bookings. For now, Cargar has a taxi point at the G-9 and F-8 Kachehry Metro Stations. Cargar charges Rs15 per kilometer and an extra Rs20 for service charges.
“Cargar aims to provide maximum safety for its customers with helmets made mandatory for all riders and passengers,” Cargar CEO Faran Ahmed told. After settling in Islamabad, Cargar aims to expand towards Lahore and Karachi, he said.
