LAHORE – Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif turned 67 on Sunday.
Every year on Quaid-e-Azam Day, the three-time prime minister celebrates his birthday with family and friends, quite privately.
Nawaz Sharif was born on 25 December 1949. He is the 18th and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, with his present term commencing in June 2013.
A veteran politician and industrialist, Nawaz Sharif previously served as Prime Minister from November 1990 to July 1993 and from February 1997 to October 1999.
Sharif is the president of Pakistan Muslim League, which is currently Pakistan’s largest political party. However, according to the unofficial and unannounced information, Sharif is also the owner of Ittefaq Group, a leading business conglomerate, making him one of the country’s wealthiest people.
Last year, on his 66th birthday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise visit to Pakistan. After landing at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, Modi was welcomed by PM Nawaz Sharif and was later taken to his residence – Raiwind Palace in Jati Umra.
