Tahirul Qadari may land in no-fly list

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri may not be able to fly abroad as the Islamabad district administration has reportedly decided to mover the Interior Ministry to put his name on Exit Control List (ECL).

Media reports suggest that a report on the cases and court proceedings against the PAT chief has been prepared by the administration. The report will be presented as supportive document for pursuing the ministry to put his name on the no-fly list.

It is being reported that five cases, including three terrorism-related cases, are registered against Qadri, while an anti-terrorism court has issued perpetual arrest warrants for the PAT chief in a case related to an attack on a senior police officer during the 2014 sit-in.

The administration’s action follows efforts of Qadri to organise All Parties Conference (APC) on Model Town incident in order to put pressure on the government.

He has also demanded resignations of Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif after Justice Baqar Najafi report on the killing of Model Town was made public.
