Met office forecast widespread rain, thunderstorm

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Northwestern upper parts of the country continued to receive rain and snowfall over hills on Tuesday as Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast widespread downpour during next 48 hours, met office told.

The Met office said a strong western disturbance is affecting North Balochistan and its surroundings and likely to grip upper and central parts of the country today (evening/night) and would persist till Wednesday.

It said the new weather system will cause widespread rain-thunderstorm (with snowfall over the hills) in KP, Islamabad, Rawalpindi division, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Sahiwal divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Faisalabad, D.G.Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur and Larkana divisions during next two days.

The PMD said Karachi will experience gusty winds in Karachi, plunging down the mercury.

On Monday, weather remained dry over most parts of the country. However rain/thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in Quetta, Makran, Malakand, Rawalpindi division and Gilgit-Baltistan.
