Peshawar passport office authorised to extend visas of Afghan nationals

ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday authorised the regional passport office in Peshawar to extend the visas of Afghan citizens.

The minister has taken the decision following the difficulties being faced by Afghan citizens in Pakistan due to closure of Pak-Afghan border.

He also directed officials concerned to immediately resolve visa issues of citizens of Afghanistan in Pakistan.

Pakistan has accused Afghanistan of harbouring the militants who have carried out the most recent attacks in the country killing over 115 people.

Soon after the Sehwan suicide attack in which over 80 people were killed, security forces closed the Pak-Afghan border for all sorts of communication indefinitely. Pakistan Army also moved heavy artillery towards the border in Chaman and Torkham districts.
