LAHORE – Reckitt Benckiser (RB) Pakistan, the makers of Gaviscon, Disprin and Disprol, organized a Gastro Forum at a local hotel in the city. RB is a company with a history of over 150 years and is a manufacturer and marketer of branded products relating to health, hygiene and home, operating in nearly 200 countries of the world. In Pakistan RB started its operations in the late 1950’s and for 3 generations of Pakistanis many of RB’s brands have been household names, trusted for their quality and efficacy. These brands include Gaviscon, Disprin and Disprol.
The event was attended by medical professionals and leading gastroenterologists focusing on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and its management; a recent development in the field of gastroenterology. GERD is a chronic digestive disorder that occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus. Common symptoms of the disease include: acid reflux, heartburn and chest pain. GERD has gained more relevance within Pakistan due the rise in food businesses and culture along with the lifestyle adopted by Pakistanis.
Professor Bor is the General Assembly Member at United European Gastroenterology Federation, President of Turkish Gastroenterology Society. Speaking about his experience at the symposium, Professor Bor stated: “By organizing events like this, RB Pakistan is providing a platform for the medical fraternity to exchange insights and share the latest developments with each other. I was delighted to share my experiences and research with the professionals in Pakistan, especially since this country has a high prevalence of patients with gastro incidences; hence it is essential that the latest studies and procedures are shared in order to help patients manage their symptoms in a better way.”
“As RB, we are fully committed to ensure healthier lives, happier homes for all Pakistanis. Pakistan is culturally a food-friendly nation, which increases the chances of gastro incidences amongst the people. This event is a milestone in our efforts to ensure people stay healthier by knowing the symptoms and seeking proper treatment. We will continue supporting and contributing to further initiatives like these.” commented Fahad Ashraf, Chief Executive RB Pakistan. RB is currently working on further such initiatives which include medical workshops for doctors as well as spreading general awareness among the masses about managing the common symptoms of GERD such as heartburn.
