Uber invited to partner with Pakistani banks

DAVOS – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met Dara Khowsroshahi, CEO of Uber Technologies Inc. at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Wednesday.

The prime minister appreciated Uber for spearheading the model of a “sharing economy” and invited Uber to partner with Pakistani banks and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to help drivers in financing vehicles for Uber.

Avenues and opportunities regarding effective participation by Uber in Pakistan’s economy in a meaningful manner were also discussed during the meeting. The Prime Minister assured them that the market holds a lot of potential for them and can provide the commuters added value for money.

MoS for Information Technology Anusha Rehman, Special Assistant to PM Ali Jehangir Siddiqui and senior government officials were also present.

Uber Technologies Inc. is a global technology company, operational in 633 cities. It launched operations in Pakistan in March 2016 and is operational in 7 cities.
