Indian PM Modi accepts cricketer Virat Kohli’s online fitness challenge

NEW DELHI – A number of workout videos started appearing on India’s Twittersphere after a minister launched an inspirational campaign aims at making people healthy.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, who is also an Olympic medalist, started the campaign on Tuesday by posting his own video. He tagged cricketer Virat Kohli, actor Hrithik Roshan and badminton champion Saina Nehwal for the challenge.

In response, India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli posted a video of himself doing spider planks and challenged his wife Anushka Sharma and PM Narendra Modi and to share their fitness videos.

As the cricketer extended the challenge, the prime minister took to Twitter and announced to accept it and promised to share his own workout video soon.

The campaigner also earned praises for his initiative on Twitter. Tennis champion Sania Mirza tweeted, “When was the last time we saw a Minister do this??? Coolest leading by example .. congratulations on this #FitnessChallenge Sir.. here’s to a brighter and healthier India ..”

PM Modi launched the Fit India movement in March. He even talked about the movement in his Mann Ki Baat radio talk in April and released a 3D-animated video of himself depicting the ‘Trikonasana’ posture.
