LHC extends Khawaja Saad Rafique s interim bail

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court has extended the duration for the interim bail extended to Pakistan Muslim league Nawaz leaders, Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother, Salman Rafique.

The Khawaja brothers appeared before the court on Wednesday and sought the extension which was approved; the NAB team also attended the crucial hearing.

Following the directives by the court, the bail was extended till November 14th.

Talking to media after the appearance, Saad Rafique repeated claims that he was facing political victimisation.

‘Victimisation in the guise of accountability is being done currently,’ observed the former railways minister and added that with such practices, the country and democracy would bear the brunt.

The duo had secured protective bail from the provincial court which expired today, with apprehensions that the politicians might be taken into custody. The national accountability Bureau is investigating the Paragon Housing society, and Ashiana-i-Iqbal.

The PML-N leaders had moved the Islamabad High Court to secure a protective bail, however, the plea was dismissed, advising the petitioners to approach the LHC.
