BEIJING (Web Desk) – Pakistan and China have agreed upon expanding long-term cooperation in defense as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif met his Chinese counterpart General Qi Jianguo on Sunday.
According to Director General Inter-Service Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa, Army Chief spent a busy first day in China. He visited the headquarters of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) where he met his Chinese counterpart General Qi Jianguo. Army Chief was presented with the Guard of Honor on this occasion.
Both military leaders agreed on long-term cooperation in defense and improved intelligence sharing.
Earlier, Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif met Vice Chairman Central Military Commission General Fan and discussed important security issues of the region with him.
COAS reiterated his resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism from Pakistan. He said that the Pakistan army enjoyed its people’s support. General Raheel Sharif said on the occasion that Pakistan will go the last mile to eliminate terrorism.
General Fan admired the national consensus over terrorism in Pakistan and said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb is proving to be decisive against the terrorists.
