U.S considers Pakistan reliable ally, cannot disregard its efforts for peace: Thomas A. Shannon

WASHINGTON – The United States is fully aware of Pakistan’s role in bringing development and peace in South Asia and has been considered it a reliable partner and ally.

This was stated by Thomas A. Shannon, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, while talking to Daily Pakistan after attending a ceremony regarding Pakistan Day at Pakistani Embassy in Washington.

Hinting at the policy of U.S after Donald Trump, he was of the view that both countries had strong relations which do not vary with the changing of governments.

When asked about criticism made by the US over the role and policy of Pakistan against terrorism, he said that it was too difficult that two countries had ideal relations as differences prevail on some issues.

Despite the challenges, Pakistan and U.S are struggling jointly against terrorism, besides developing an amicable environment in South Asia, he concluded.
