LAHORE (Web Desk) – Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has been awarded Brazil’s coveted Award “Order of Merit” at a special ceremony in Sao Paulo in recognition of his leadership for successful fight against multiple threats, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, the army chief was honoured with Brazil’s coveted award in a special ceremony.
“Gen Raheel is the first Asian to have won this coveted Award,” Director General (DG) of ISPR Lt. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa wrote on his twitter account.
The army chief met Brazil’s Defence Minister and discussed bilateral relations and common security challenges.
They underlined the need for enhanced coordination level and forging strategic relations.
The two sides discussed Pakistan’s security assistance to Brazil for arranging Rio De Janeiro Olympics 2016.
They also agreed that Pakistan and Brazil need to benefit from each other’s anti Narcotic experience.
