ISLAMABAD (News Desk) – The South Asian Finance Ministers are set to discuss proposals for boosting regional cooperation in economy and trade on the second day (Friday) of the 8th meeting of SAARC Finance Ministers in Islamabad.
The Finance Ministers would focus on areas including reduction or removal of non-tariff barriers, energy cooperation, trade facilitation measures, investment cooperation, reduction of products on the sensitive list and improvement in connectivity among SAARC member states.
The delegate of all SAARC nations would also call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during the day.
A meeting of the Governing Council of SAARC Development Fund would also be held on the sidelines of the conference.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said the SAARC Finance Ministers’ conference has promoted economic and trade cooperation among the member states.
He was speaking at a reception hosted in honour of visiting delegates and participants of the SAARC conference in Islamabad.
He said that the conference will set new dimensions in the economic cooperation among SAARC countries.
