ISLAMABAD – Speaking on behalf of Chaudhry Nisar, an interior ministry spokesperson on Wednesday rejected media reports according to which, efforts were being made to placate the interior minister who is reportedly angry with the PML-N leadership.
“The truth is that the interior minister had adopted a contrary position on some important matters in the PML-N’s internal meetings, after which he was excluded from the consultative process,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the interior minister wanted to know why he was excluded from the PML-N’s meetings, and if the decision was made because of his stance.
The spokesperson further said that unless a clarification is provided, “it will be difficult to resolve problems in a positive manner.”
The news comes following rumours that the interior minister was being assured that no change in the chain of command of the federal government would be made against his wishes.
Earlier, rumours were afloat that the Nisar is considering to quit the PML-N as media reports said that the interior minister did not attend Friday’s crucial meeting of the PML-N’s parliamentary party headed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to local media, the differences occurred between Nisar and party over handling the Panama Papers case as he had advised the prime minister not to appear before the JIT.
