ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Federal Minister for Commerce and Trade Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that Britain’s decision to leave the European Union will have no negative impact on Pakistani exports to Britain under the GSP-Plus program.
In a statement, he asked Pakistani exporters to continue sending their products to Britain as there was no possibility of the country withdrawing GSP Plus status for Pakistan.
He said the ministries of Commerce and Foreign Affairs were in constant touch with Pakistan High Commission in London to get the latest updates on the situation arising out of the referendum.
The Ministry of Commerce would also approach its British counterpart to seek policy clarifications, he added.
A slim majority of British citizens had voted to leave the European Union in a landmark referendum held nationwide on June 23. British Prime Minister David Cameron announced to quit office within three months after the announcement of the poll results.
