General Raheel, Ch Nisar in Karachi to discuss law and order

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif arrived in Sindh’s capital city on Sunday to attend a briefing session on law and order situation in the metropolis.

The army chief’s visit comes in the wake of the recent unrest in Karachi triggered after the kidnapping of Owais Shah, son of Sindh High Court chief justice, and the assassination of world renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri.

Media reports suggested that Gen Raheel visited the Rangers Headquarters, where he was briefed on the steps being taken by the paramilitary force to tackle the law and order situation in the city.

The army chief will also be briefed about the progress made in the kidnapping case of the Sindh CJ’s son.

General Raheel will later attend a briefing at the Corps Headquarters in Karachi along with Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and other high-ranking officials.

Meanwhile, the Sindh CM has called for a meeting of the Apex Committee at the Chief Minister’s House to oversee the overall law and order situation of the province.
