World s largest tent city set up in Mina as Hajj pilgrimmage begins

MAKKAH – As Hajj pilgrimage has begun, world’s largest tent city has been set up in Mina where hundreds of thousands of pilgrims will stay overnight and offer prayers.

After Fajr prayers, pilgrims will leave for Waqoof e Arafah, which is the most important part of the Hajj pilgrimage, and offer Zuhr and Asr prayers together after listening to a sermon.

Around 2.5 million pilgrims from all over the world and 200,000 from Pakistan have arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj this year and now gathered in Mina.

Pilgrims will spend Monday night in Mina and leave for Arafat after Fajr prayers on Tuesday. Waqoof e Arafah will be performed on Tuesday. Pilgrims will listen to Hajj sermon at Masjid al-Namirah and offer Zuhr and Asr prayers together.

Pilgrims will then go to Jabal e Rahma and seek forgiveness. At the sunset, pilgrims will leave for Muzdalifah and offer Maghrib and Isha prayers there. They will spend the night under the open sky and collect stones here to throw at Jamarat.

On the 10th of Zil Hajj, pilgrims will leave for Mina after Fajr prayers and perform the ritual of Rami Jamar. Pilgrims will remove their Ihram after the sacrifice and go to Kaaba to perform Tawaf al-Ziyarah. Then they will go back to Mina and spend ayyam e tashreeq there (the three days after the sacrifice at Mina during Hajj, the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth days of Zil Hajj month).
