Nobody has the right to ask me what happens in my bedroom: Sania Mirza

DUBAI (Web Desk) – Life is going swimmingly for Sania Mirza at the moment. The No.1 ranked women’s doubles player is having a sensational year in 2015.

Sania won ten titles in the year, one with Bethanie Mattek-Sands and nine with regular partner Martina Hingis.

The rich haul includes two Grand Slam titles (Wimbledon and the US Open) and the year ending WTA Finals, India TV reported.

Sania and Hingis are on an extraordinary 22-match winning streak and are targeting a sweep of all four Grand Slam titles next year.

But there’s one fly in the ointment for Sania – questions on her personal life, especially when she is going to have kids.

Sania, who married Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik in 2010, is still only 29 and is rightly focusing on her career at the moment.

“I find it extremely disrespectful to ask someone this question. Just because I’m a public figure, it does not give anyone the right to ask me what happens in my bedroom,” she said, speaking to the BBC.

The interview was part of the BBC’s 100 Women Series. Speaking about her experiences as a woman, she said, “When you’re a woman you have to fight a lot harder. It has nothing to do with India, it has nothing to do with this side of the world. It’s to do with the world.”
