SURAT – An Indian diamond merchant has gifted more than 600 cars to employees of his company as Diwali gift.
Savji Dholakia, who owns Hari Krishna Exports, in a ceremony handed over the keys to 600 employees while around a thousand more staff were offered gifts of cash deposits and apartments.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on behalf of the firm, has also handed over car keys to four employees.
The showroom value of the 600 cars would be more than $2 million.

The company has been giving such gifts to employees for the last four years, Dholakia said. So far, around 4000 employees have received such gifts as Diwali bonuses.
In September, Dholakia presented a Mercedes-Benz GLS worth Rs 1 crore to each of his three senior employees after they completed 25 years at the firm.
