ISLAMABAD – China’s ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing on Friday said that the multi-billion dollars China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is beneficial for both countries.
Addressing a ceremony, Jing rejected the notion that the bilateral agreement had put a financial burden on Pakistan, adding that China is ready to address the concerns over CPEC.
He said that the project which involved billions of dollars investment depicted the confidence China has in Pakistan.
Terming the Islamabad-China relations exemplatory, the envoy said: “some elements want to sabotage the ties between the two countries”.
Talking about the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China, Jing said that the premier will be the chief guest at the Shanghai conference going to be held next month.
PM Imran Khan will pay his first official visit to China from November 2-5 at the invitation of the Chinese leadership and discuss a whole range of bilateral issues besides inking a number of agreements, the Foreign Office announced earlier this week.

Hailing the step taking by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government after coming into power, the Chinese ambassador termed Pakistan’s role in Afghan peace process and talks offer to India as positive.
Pak-China leadership has a similar vision for their countries, he said that emerging strong Pakistan has significance for China and the international community.
Earlier in September, Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who reached Pakistan on official visit, indicated his country’s willingness to talk about the CPEC again.
It is recalled that PM Imran Khan, on September 4, formed separate cabinet committees on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), privatization and energy.
